Octonion Mind Puzzle — a quiet Fano-plane game with numbered melody.

The app

Place 1–7 once each, find a notebook octonion, and hear it as jianpu (numbered melody in C major). Easy puzzles lock three seeds. Hard starts blank. Saved voicings live in a local library; two or more can layer on Symphony.

There is no account and no internet requirement.

Frankie Fano makes small mind games that resolve into music. Octonion Mind Puzzle is a logic puzzle on a Fano plane: place 1–7, find a catalog octonion, and hear it as jianpu.

How to play

  1. Tap a node on the triangle, then tap a number 1–7.
  2. A number already on the board moves to the selected node.
  3. Reset clears the plane. Easy keeps its three locked seeds.
  4. Hard can offer one catalog-consistent hint.
  5. A finished board is valid only when it matches the notebook catalog — not every neat 1–7 labeling.
  6. A valid plane opens jianpu: center drone, seven motifs, outer-triangle outro.
  7. Save voicings in Library. Symphony needs two saved voices before it will layer them.

In-app Rules is the full one-pager. First launch also shows a short how-to-play sheet.

Common questions

Why isn’t this an octonion?
v1 uses a fixed catalog (eleven unique boards). Additive-looking lines are coaching, not the win check. Reset or keep searching.
Library is empty.
Solve a valid plane first. Saves never leave the device; deleting the app deletes them.
Symphony says it needs two voices.
Save a second octonion (a different board or the second page-3 voicing). Then select two and play.
No sound.
Check the Ring/Silent switch, volume, and Control Center mute. The app generates tones; it does not use the microphone or Apple Music.
I dismissed How to play and want it again.
Open Rules & notation from the home screen. The first-launch sheet does not return on its own.
Does this need an account?
